Banana Republic

This morning, I couldn't take the short-cut through Volksgarten as usual as the park was closed by the Police who were making sure our new Government was being sworn in undisturbed by protesters on nearby Ballhausplatz. I can't believe we've actually got a new Governmet as it took the parties involved more than 3 months (the general elections were on October 1, 2006) to get their act together. Then again, I suppose it's only natural to take that long for a country an Empire like Austria, what with our Billions of inhabitants, dozens of colonies and huge fleet of battleships and warplanes to co-ordinate.
