Happy Freerange Apples

When us city-slickers visit friends or relatives in the countryside, we love to play hunters and gatherers and return home with some kind of organic booty or other. At Amica's on Saturday, I spotted beautiful leathery cooking apples and took home a bagful. 
On Sunday, I baked an apple crumble cake:

I love the fact that there's both cinnamon and cardamom in the dough. Recipe adapted from this one. Highly recommendable and very quick.
